As CEO, Catherine Thompson is responsible for guiding Motion’s direction and day to day activities. Working closely with Motion’s Board of Directors, she helps set Motion’s strategic goals and oversees company activities focused on growth, innovation and industry leadership. Prior to her position as CEO, Catherine was Motion's Chief Operating Officer (COO).
Prior to joining Motion, Ms. Thompson served in various leadership roles with Dell. She began her career with Dell in 1993 as Vice President, Internal Audit, she also held roles as Vice President and Corporate Controller, Vice President of Business Operations in the Americas, Vice President of Customer Support within the Relationship Group, Vice President of Global Customer Programs, Vice President of Finance supporting the sales segments in the Americas and Commercial Business Group, and Vice President of Finance for Dell's Global Marketing organization.
Before joining Dell, Ms. Thompson was a partner at the accounting firm of Arthur Andersen & Company where she was director of the Dallas/Ft. Worth telecommunications and utilities audit and financial consulting practices.
Ms. Thompson is a Certified Public Accountant and received a bachelor's degree in accounting from the University of Texas. She is a board member for both Ballet Austin and the Capital Area Food Bank.
As Chief Operating Officer (COO), Michael Johnson is responsible for the leadership of Motion’s product development, procurement, and manufacturing organizations. Previously, Michael was the Senior Vice President of Product Development at Motion.
Johnson's experience includes seventeen years in product development at Apple Computer. Over that time, he led teams in the creation of both mobile and desktop products, managed key supplier relationships and served on the task force of several key Apple initiatives. In his most recent role at Apple, Johnson was the director of consumer desktop products, which focused on the design and development of the iMac and Mac Mini line of products. Johnson also was instrumental in leading the project to migrate the Mac platform from PowerPC processors to Intel processors.
Earlier in his career, Johnson was instrumental in the design of Atari’s line of personal computers. Johnson received his bachelor’s in electronic engineering from California Polytechnic State University.
Nigel Owens is Senior Vice President of Worldwide Sales and GM of EMEA with full P & L responsibility including service, support and marketing.
Owens joins Motion from Fujitsu Siemens where he most recently ran sales in EMEA, focusing on Fujitsu’s tablet business in that region. Prior to that, he ran Fujitsu Personal Systems business in Northern Europe and sales in EMEA. Before joining Fujitsu, Owens was responsible for sales at Husky Computers, a European manufacturer of rugged computers.
Pete Lewis is VP Sales for the Americas and Asia Pacific.
Lewis joined Motion from Walkabout Computers where he was responsible for International sales outside the US. Before joining Walkabout, Lewis was responsible for ROW sales at Fujitsu Personal Systems Inc, (a manufacturer of mobile tablet computers) where he oversaw expansion into Canada, LATAM and APAC. Prior to Fujitsu, he was Director of Marketing for Tandem Computers of Canada.
As VP of Peripherals and Accessories, John Amundson drives the company's efforts to provide complete mobile computing solutions by offering important companion products to our tablet PC platforms that optimize and enhance the productivity of mobile professionals in a variety of industry settings. Formerly, as VP of Procurement and Supply Chain for Motion, John was responsible for supplier quality, strategic sourcing, cost management, and key parts and technologies for supply chain management.
John has over 25 years of experience in Manufacturing Engineering, Materials Management, Supplier Quality, and Global Procurement.
Prior to joining Motion in early 2002, John led the Global Procurement organizations at RadiSys and earlier at Emerson Electric’s ‘Process Systems and Solutions’ business unit.
Amundson graduated from Iowa State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Engineering. He holds professional certification as a “Certified Purchasing Manager (C.P.M.)” from the Institute of Supply Chain Management and as a “Certified in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM)” professional from the American Production and Inventory Control Society.
Glenn Armbruster is Motion Computing’s Senior Vice President of Customer Experience and one of the company's founders. He brings 25 years of experience in the high tech industry in operational, product development and general management roles. He retired from Dell Computer Corporation after nearly eight years in a variety of senior management positions including vice president of materials and quality, vice president of U.S. operations, vice president of European product lines of business, and vice president of European operations and European engineering.
Prior to joining Dell, Armbruster had a long career at Digital Equipment Corporation (DEC) where he served as product manager for a variety of communications products, head of manufacturing for DEC's Network Products division, and vice president/general manager of DEC's $4.0B Computer Integrated Manufacturing (CIM)/Automotive and Discreet Manufacturing Business Unit.
Armbruster graduated from Colby College, received his master’s from MIT and attended the Harvard Business School Executive Development Program.
Bill Getchell has over twenty-five years of experience in finance and accounting in early-stage, privately-held as well as mature, publicly traded information technology organizations. He has significant experience in worldwide manufacturing and distribution, product development, and enterprise software. Prior to joining Motion Computing, Bill had progressively more responsible positions with IBM Microelectronics, Lotus Development Corporation, MicroTouch Systems, Inc., IDX Systems, and Valence Technology. Bill joined Motion Computing as Corporate Controller in 2005. He is a Certified Management Accountant with a BA from Colby College and MBA from the University of Michigan.
As Vice President of Product Development at Motion Computing, Lee is responsible for leading the development of Motion’s enterprise tablets and associated software from concept to production.
Prior to joining Motion, Lee was a Director of Engineering at Hewlett-Packard Corporation. During his time at HP, Lee headed the development of HP’s thin client platforms and solutions as HP rose to the #1 provider of thin clients worldwide. Lee also led the development and launch of the first Atom-based, Point-of-Sale PC, and HP’s first all-in-one, Point-of-Sale terminal.
Prior to joining HP, Lee managed iMac engineering at Apple and Deskpro development at Compaq.
Lee holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Florida and is the co-inventor on multiple US patents.
As Vice President of Service Operations, Mr. Mitchell is responsible for Motion’s worldwide support, which includes industry-leading, flexible programs that enable clients to acquire, protect, service and fully utilize the features of Motion Tablet PC’s.
Mr. Mitchell brings 30 years of customer service experience in a broad range of technology companies to Motion. Most recently he served as Director of Technical Support for Mobile Products for Fujitsu Computer Systems, where he was responsible for the service and support for Fujitsu mobile and desktop products in North America. Prior to joining Fujitsu he led the depot repair organizations for WYSE Technology and Atari.
Mr. Mitchell holds an associate’s degree in Electronics Technology from Oklahoma State University and a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Technology from the University of North Texas.

As Vice President of Marketing, Peter Poulin oversees Motion’s product strategy and global marketing programs, including channel marketing, marketing communications, and business-to-business demand generation and lead management initiatives.
With more than 25 years of sales, marketing and general management experience, Poulin has served in leadership roles across a broad range of startup and well-established organizations. Knowledgeable across all channels of distribution, and with diverse experience across hardware, software, and services businesses, Poulin has led teams through phases of rapid growth and transformational change. Most recently, he served as Vice President of Sales for Virtual Bridges, an Austin-based startup focused on the desktop virtualization space. He has also held executive positions with Compaq, American Power Conversion (APC), Hoover’s, and several software/hardware startups.
Poulin earned a bachelor’s in electrical engineering from Cornell University.

Formerly Senior VP of Product Development and CTO at Dell, general manager of desktop products at Apple, including managing development of the Macintosh.
