Novatel Wireless / Sprint Mobile Broadband Information

Thank you for purchasing your Motion Computing Tablet with the Novatel Wireless Wide Area Networking adapter.

A mobile broadband connection manager and active Sprint mobile broadband service is required to operate your tablet on the Sprint mobile broadband network.

Please perform the steps below to enable your tablet to operate on the Sprint mobile broadband network:

Step 1: Confirm your tablet is Sprint capable.

Step 2: Download and install the Sprint Connection Manager.

Step 3: Go to Sprint Mobile Broadband Plans for instructions about how to establish a service account for the Sprint wireless broadband network.

Step 4: Open and Configure the Sprint Connection Manager with your Sprint service account information.

Step 5: Connect to the Sprint network.


Step 1: Confirm your tablet is Sprint capable


A. Right-click on My Computer and select Properties.
B. For Windows Vista, select Device Manager. For Windows XP, click on the Hardware tab and then select Device Manager.
C. Click on the “+” symbol next to Modems.
D. Right-click on the Novatel Wireless Expedite EV-DO Modem.
E. Select Properties.
F. Select the Diagnostics tab.
G. Select Query Modem.
H. Confirm the AT+GMM command shows E725 Sprint as the response.

Step 2: Download and install the Sprint Connection Manager


To install the Sprint/Novatel drivers and connection manager, please perform the following steps:

  • Go to Motion support driver page: http://www.motioncomputing.com/support/driver_download.asp.
  • Select your Motion Tablet PC model and operating system.
  • Select the latest Novatel Wireless - Sprint WWAN Software and click Save to download the software file to the directory of your choice.
  • Unzip the file to a location on your local drive.
  • Double-click Sprint_SmartView_for_Windowsx.xx.xx.exe and follow the prompts.

Step 4: Configure the Sprint Connection Manager


To configure the Sprint Connection Manager, do the following:
A.Open the Sprint Connection Manager
B. You will be prompted to contact Sprint PCS Customer Solutions to activate your device
C. You may need to provide the following information:

  • Social Security number or Tax ID number
  • Billing address
  • Driver’s license number

D. Then follow the steps to Activate your Sprint Connection Device
E. When completed, click Connect to connect to the Sprint mobile broadband network
