Gobi Global Mobile Internet and GPS Solution Information

Thank you for purchasing your Motion Computing Tablet with the Gobi Global Mobile Internet and GPS solution.

A wireless broadband connection manager and active mobile broadband network service is required to operate your tablet on the mobile broadband networks.

  • An active mobile broadband service is not required to operate the stand-alone GPS feature of your Motion Computing Tablet.
    See the User Guide for more information.

Please perform the steps below to enable your tablet to operate on the mobile broadband network:

Step 1: Download and install the Motion Computing Connection Manager, and User Guide.

Step 2: See the Motion Computing Connection Manager User Guide for information on selecting a mobile broadband network service provider.

Step 3: Run the Motion Computing Connection Manager to access the mobile broadband network.

To install the Motion Computing connection manager software, please perform the following step:

  1. Go to Motion support driver page: http://www.motioncomputing.com/support/driver_download.asp.
  2. Select your Motion Tablet PC model and operating system.
  3. Select the latest Motion Computing - Gobi - WWAN Software, read release notes and click download to save the Motion Computing connection manager software and User Guide to the directory of your choice.
  4. Unzip the file to a location on your local drive.
  5. To read the Motion Computing Connection Manager User guide, click MotionCMUserGuide.pdf.
  6. To install the Motion Computing Connection Manager, double-click MotionCMSetupxxxx.msi and follow the prompts.

Step 3: Run the Motion Computing Connection Manager to access the mobile broadband network


1. Launch the Motion Computing Connection Manager program by clicking Start Menu > Programs > Motion Connection Manager > MotionCM

2. Select the Networks tab, select your mobile broadband service provider, and click Load / Apply

Note: the service provider selection only needs to be made the first time the Connection Manager / Gobi device are used, this information will be retained for subsequent uses

Note: the Generic selection can be used for service providers, within the region, that are not included in the list – see the User Guide for more information

3. Select the Connect tab, and click Connect to access the mobile broadband network
