Transferring Files over Bluetooth®

The following sections describe how to transfer files from one Tablet PC to another.

1. Start the Bluetooth Application

Using your pen, tap Start>All Programs>My Bluetooth Places to launch the My Bluetooth Places application window.

2. Open the Bluetooth Setup Wizard

Under Bluetooth Tasks, tap or select the Bluetooth Setup Wizard. The Welcome to the Bluetooth Setup Wizard window appears.

3. Search for Bluetooth Devices

On the Bluetooth Setup window, tap “I want to find a specific Bluetooth device and configure how this computer will use its services,” the second option.

4. Tap Next

5. Select the Bluetooth Device

The Bluetooth Device Selection window appears and the Tablet PC searches for Bluetooth devices within range.

When the icon for your Bluetooth device appears in the Bluetooth Device Selection window, highlight it; then tap Next.

NOTE: The Tablet PC may discover other Bluetooth devices and display them in the Select a device window, as shown in this example. (Your devices will differ from those in this example.)

6. Start the Pairing Process

a. In the Bluetooth Security Setup window >> Initiate Pairing section, select a PIN Code and type it in the box. You may choose any number you like; make sure to remember the number.

b. Tap Initiate Pairing.

c. On the other Tablet PC, you will see the following dialog: Bluetooth PIN Code Required.

d. When you click on the balloon, the Bluetooth PIN Code Request window will open. Enter the same PIN Code that you used on the other Tablet PC and tap OK.

7. Select the Bluetooth Services

a. From the Bluetooth Service Selection window, scroll down and select File Transfer.

b. Make sure to check the box.

c. When you check the File Transfer box, a Bluetooth Properties window appears. Tap OK. The tablet you are connecting to is listed.

8. Tap Finish to Complete the Installation

Microsoft® Windows® now installs services for a file transfer. This may take a few seconds. Please wait until this process is complete before installing any other Bluetooth devices.

9. Transfer a File

a. You can now transfer files between the two tablets. Right click on a file and select Send to >> Bluetooth >> Other… or, if the name of the other Tablet PC is listed, select it.

b. On the destination Tablet PC, a “Request for FTP file access permissions” balloon appears. Click on it.

c. The Bluetooth File Transfer Access Authorization window appears. Select the appropriate access option and choose ok.

d. The file is transferred to the Bluetooth Exchange Folder. This folder may be accessed through My Bluetooth Places or My Documents.
