Congratulations to Lanie Crowe, project manager at Star Electrical Contractors. Overview: Star Electrical Contractors, Inc. strives to deliver professional, unprecedented electrical contracting services to a unique and limited customer base. Specializing in Healthcare, Commercial and Data Centers, our company goal is to provide complete, professional electrical installations with emphasis placed on quality, not quantity. Solution: The ability to provide information in a real time, accurate business forum is critical. The Motion tablet benefits over conventional laptops/desktops are obvious. It is the usefulness of pen and paper format with the interconnectivity of today’s electronic age that invites the contractor/customer to collaborate on the same communication platform. The tablets place the project documents in a viewable format that everyone in a meeting can see and as the meetings progress, the stylus makes it easy for anyone’s input/comments to be incorporated into the project documents. Working with Motion: In short, our solution works with Motion Computing because it has taken the three ring binder style project books and condensed them into lightweight portable media that have all of the functionality of a regular computer. A standard project can equate from ten to twelve 3” binders, now all of these documents are in a 11.5” x 9.5” computer and are ready for on the job use. I believe that Tablet PC will soon be the standard tool of construction office mangers. The flexibility, ease of use and storage capacity will have as much impact on the way a project manager conducts their business as the battery drill has had to field personnel and the installation of their work. Customer Story: While working on a local project with a design team that was out of state, a changed project condition was encountered that required immediate resolution and Motion Computing was there to help. A picture of the condition was taken, uploaded, then emailed to the design team all while on conference call and a decision was made. It was the mobility of the tablet PC that made the process a real time exchange between the contractor and the design team. Congratulations to Karen McNaughton from In-Touch Surveys. Congratulations to Doug Pierce, CIO of Clinical Ink, LLC. Overview: Clinical Ink, LLC (www.clinicalink.com) offers an electronic source data solution to the global clinical trials market. Working with the sponsoring companies, we create electronic forms that allow the necessary data to be captured at research sites, validated and then transmitted to our web portal where it can be remotely viewed. The data is also passed downstream to the sponsoring company’s data base. Solution: Clinical Ink offers an eSource solution for clinical trials that provides cleaner data more quickly — saving money by reducing time to market. Clinical Ink’s SureSource™ solution runs on tablet PCs, allowing validated source data to be entered on customized eSource documents that retain the look and feel of paper forms. The data and forms can then be managed, viewed and stored via our secure web portal. The SureSource™ interface is designed with the benefits of pen and paper in mind. Unlike traditional electronic data capture (EDC) systems, it allows users to record comments and explanations, as well as capture the data required by the protocol — all while moving freely from room to room, regardless of connectivity. SureSource™ provides this ease of use while eliminating the problems with paper source and case report forms. Source data is validated at the point of capture and seamlessly transmitted (using CDISC standards) to the chosen backend data system. Since there is only one data set, monitors don’t need to perform source data verification. Remote viewing of source documents allows monitors to resolve queries from their home office, dramatically reducing monitoring costs. Getting cleaner data more quickly with SureSource™ results in significant savings. Working with Motion: Our application, SureSource, is optimized to run on tablet PCs. We have chosen Motion because we believe the slate form factor is the most appropriate for our needs and because Motion offers the best slate tablets on the market. We need light, dependable hardware that fit the workflow of medical practices. Motion delivers. Customer Story: We are currently engaged in a pilot study. We are working with a research site in NC, a CRO (contract research organization) in MA and a data management company in Toronto. The pilot is going quite well. The tablet has been welcomed by both research subjects and the medical staff. Congratulations to Joe Krehel, President & CEO of Trademaster, Inc. Overview: TradeMaster, Inc., is a leading provider of inspection and "pre-plan" software solutions, including MobileEyes™ fire and building inspection software. The company provides off-the-shelf, user-friendly products to state and local government entities and private industry, helping organizations to dramatically reduce the time, paper, and clerical effort associated with scheduling, managing, and performing inspection processes. Solution: The MobileEyes™ Fire Inspection solution helps state and local fire departments who are today buried under paper inspection forms, constrained by "back of a napkin" scheduling, frustrated by redundant data entry and manual reporting, and consequently failing to complete all of their intended inspections. MobileEyes™ removes the wasteful elements of the process so that professional inspectors are freed up to inspect! Working with Motion: MobileEyes™ and the Motion tablets represent a powerful one-two punch that delivers significant value to fire inspectors and their communities. Armed with tablets, inspectors complete 30-40% more inspections while eliminating return trips, paper, and unpleasant clerical functions. In the field, inspectors are able to manage the daily schedule, review inspection history data for any commercial occupancy, research any codes or standards, and perform all aspects of their specific inspection process. Customer Story: "MobileEyes™ is the best thing we’ve bought to assist in inspections," said County Fire Marshal Scott Garner, deputy director of Brunswick County Emergency Services in North Carolina. Garner’s department utilizes the solution to perform inspections including permit and inspection invoicing. "With the new system, we doubled the collection of fees in the first year, from 40-50 percent, to 85-90 percent," said Garner, who indicated that their invoices also look much more professional over previous handwritten carbon copies thanks to their ability to complete and print all invoices and supporting documentation in the field.
Overview: Vela Systems is the provider of construction field software that automates the execution and oversight of field activities on construction and capital projects for architects, engineers, contractors and owners. Solution: Vela Systems Field Software accelerates project completion by streamlining and accelerating the field administration process by replacing traditional field notebooks, paper plans and clipboards with the easy-to-use Vela Systems software and Tablet PCs. Instead of carrying a field notebook and paper plans or specs, jobsite users work with Vela Systems software on mobile computers to electronically access documents and to complete field reports, QA/QC inspections, worklists, punchlists, update the BIM and many other critical field activities. Working with Motion: Vela Systems software can be seamlessly integrated into Motion tablet PCs. The combination of Motion’s durable, mobile tablet PCs and Vela Systems software creates and easy to use solution that accelerates project completion and delivers significant ROI, such as: - Improved jobsite efficiency Customer Story: Bond Brothers, a Massachusetts-based multifaceted construction company, adopted the use of Vela Systems field management software on Motion Tablet PCs across multiple projects. Throughout the development of a 7,500 ton chilled water plant, the company used the Vela commissioning module with Motion tablets to help streamline the project. According to a Bond Brothers project engineer the solution “probably eliminated five to ten hours of date entry every week.” Vela Systems’ mobile field software and Motion tablets replace the notebooks and tubes of drawings normally carried by construction personnel. Using a special pen or stylus, field personnel can write directly on the screen in their own handwriting, which the tablet can display as pen strokes, highlighter marks, or automatically convert to electronic text. Bond Brothers estimates that they would have had to add up to two FTEs without the solution, and were able to “just about completely eliminate the paper side of the process.” Overall, the combined solution: accelerated job completion, commissioning, worklists and document synchronization, improved communication with the owner and created electronic handover documents.
Overview: Catalis, Inc. is a healthcare software solutions company that enables medical offices and organizations to quickly deploy electronic medical record (EMR) solutions via a secure, web-based, hosted platform. Solution: Catalis Accelerator is optimized for use on tablet PCs. It features innovative and graphical interfaces that revolutionize charting, it automatically calculates E & M, CPT and ICD-9 codes to maximize reimbursements and is easily used with a wireless connection on a tablet PC to enable physicians to document and gather patient data, submit prescriptions and communicate with other offices with the touch of a button – regardless of location. Working with Motion: With Catalis Accelerator and Motion tablets, our physician clients take the tablet into the room with the patient and can document the patient encounter while he/she is educating the patient while using the tablet. Our software is anatomically based, giving the physician the ability to graphically explain to patients the medical condition that the physician is treating them for using Motion technology. Without Motion, physicians using our software would not be able to educate, document or treat patients at the point of care. Customer Story: We work with a clinic that had the goal of establishing their practice four years ago in a completely paperless environment, they do not have paper charts – never have. It started with Motion tablets and Catalis software with the intent to have a paper-free environment and to date it is almost paper-free. The clinic’s “chart rack” of 30,000 patients is on the Catalis server, but accessed through the Motion tablets that the doctors carry around the office. So, for all intents and purposes, the Motion tablet is the chart rack. Through utilizing point of care documentation using Motion hardware, the clinic has quadrupled the size of its business. |
