How To: Adjust the camera preview window time-out setting for picture capture

Product:

Docking Station - C5 & F5

OS Version:

Windows XP & Windows Vista

Issue / Question

Camera turns off after a period of inactivity if a picture is not captured, which causes the

camera window to close.

Resolution / Answer

The default time-out value for the camera preview window is set up to optimize battery life for a

typical workflow. If the 15000 millisecond default time-out value is not suitable for your workflow,

you can use the following procedure to modify the value.

To change the camera preview time-out value:

  1. Locate the MCA Configuration Editor at C:\ProgramFiles\Intel\MCA\Bin\CFGEditor.
  2. In the left navigation bar, open MCA Application, selection ButtonHandler Default Action,

and choose Camera:

  1. For Preview Window Timeout, enter the appropriate value in milliseconds.

For example, for a time-out value of 25 seconds, enter 25000.

  1. Click Apply to save changes
  2. Click OK to close the window.
