Overview

The Dashboard is an application provided by Motion Computing to assist users with managing the features and functionality provided with their M1400 Tablet PC.

This release provides several fixes listed below.  Customers may not be experiencing any challenges with their current software, so it is important to read the “What’s New” and “Known Issues” sections to determine if this release is appropriate to download and install.

As with any software update, customers should first make certain they have adequate and current backups of their data before performing an upgrade.  Customers are also urged to create a Windows XP System Restore Point before proceeding.

What's New In This Release
This release addresses the following problems with previous versions:
  • Dashboard does not reflect correct BT state after installation of Widcomm BT Stack
  • Bluetooth and Dashboard Conflict 3.0.3.3
  • Bluetooth Not Re-enabling On Resume From Hibernate

Known Issues and Limitations
Issues of interest encountered during verification:
  • Disabling of Bluetooth via the Widcomm BT icon on the systray does not disable the driver and appears to be by design. Dashboard does not reflect a state change (enable/disable) in the BT driver. This has been present since the advent of SP2 and support has not reported any user issues with this behavior. Dashboard 3.0.3.4 does not address this behavior
  • If a user disables the BT driver via the Device Manager it will have to be re-enabled via the Device Manager, in this situation Dashboard does not reflect the current state. If the user enables/disables BT via Dashboard only, there is no discrepancy with the state of BT.

Installation and Configuration Instructions
To install the Dashboard 3.0.3.4 Update, do the following:
  • Download "M1400-MCDashboardv3034.zip" to directory location of your choice
  • Extract all files
  • Navigate into the newly created directory
  • Run Setup.exe and follow displayed instructions using the default settings. This will modify your Dashboard installation, leaving any non-default Dashboard variables in place.
  • The execution of a registry routine may be required if the Widcomm or Microsoft BT stack is needed but the other is currently installed.
