Fixes in this Release

·         Latest driver release package from Intel

What's New In This Release

·         Improved connectivity and stability

Known Issues and Limitations

·         Operating in 802.11n Mode

o        Intel recommends using security with your wireless network. The Intel(R) Wireless WiFi Link 4965AGN adapter can only achieve transfer rates greater than 54 Mbps on 802.11n connections when using AES security, or no security. You should only use no security when setting up or troubleshooting the network.

o        To enable AES for Personal Security, select WPA-Personal (AES-CCMP) or WPA2-Personal (AES-CCMP) in the Security Settings pull down menu. To enable AES for Enterprise Security, select AES-CCMP in the Data Encryption pull down menu.

·         Wi-Fi* Protected Setup*

o        Wi-Fi* Protected Setup* is supported by the following adapters:

§         Intel(R) Wireless WiFi Link 5300

§         Intel(R) Wireless WiFi Link 5100

§         Intel(R) Wireless WiFi Link 4965AGN

§         Intel(R) Wireless WiFi Link 4965AG_

§         Intel(R) PRO/Wireless 3945ABG Network Connection

·         Novell Client* Support

o        Support for Novell Client has been removed from this version of Intel(R) PROSet/Wireless WiFi Connection Utility.

·         Nortel VPN Client Interoperability

o        To use Nortel VPN Client you can either set up a user profile with Maintain connection on log off or an administrator profile with Pre-logon Connect and Persistent Connection enabled in the same profile.

o        To configure profile for Logoff on Connect:

§         Log on as a local user or a domain user using cached credentials.

§         Create a new profile to connect to an access point.

§         Enable Maintain connection on log off during profile creation, or modify the profile to enable Maintain connection on log off.

§         To modify a profile and enable Maintain connection on log off:

§         Highlight the profile used.

§         Click Properties > Advanced.

§         Select Maintain Connection.

§         Select Maintain connection on log off.

§         Click OK.

o        Use Nortel VPN Client to establish a connection with the Logoff on Connect feature selected.

o        The Nortel VPN Client automatically logs the user off.

o        Log on as a domain user and authenticate the connection through a VPN tunnel.

·         Single Sign On

o        The Microsoft Windows log on user name and password is set for a Pre-logon profile using the user name and password from the Novell login screen. Verify that the “Use prelogon feature for wireless networks” is selected on the Novell Client* for Windows XP/2000 login screen.

·         Microsoft Data Execution Protection

o        There is a known incompatibility when Microsoft Data Execution Protection is set to "AlwaysOn" in the boot.ini file. Setting this to "AlwaysOn" will disable major functions of the Intel(R) PROSet/Wireless WiFi Connection Utility.

·         Profile Migration when Upgrading from Previous Versions

o        When upgrading from Intel(R) PROSet/Wireless WiFi Connection Utility, Windows XP 64-bit, version 10.5 or 10.6 to version 12.4, profiles fail to migrate and will not be present after the upgrade. However, if you are upgrading from Intel(R) PROSet/Wireless WiFi Connection Utility, version 11.1, all profiles migrate successfully.

·         User Windows Logon Credentials

o        This problem only occurs after installation of Intel(R) PROSet/Wireless WiFi Connection Utility and before the next reboot. For profiles where "Use Windows logon credentials" has been selected, if the user then attempts to connect using that profile, the user is still prompted for user credentials for authentication. The user needs to logout and log back in for the credentials to be acquired, or the system needs to be rebooted. Then, later attempts to connect will not request user credentials.

·         Linksys* Access Point Association Timeout

o        After the association flow completes, the adapter stays awake (as in CAM mode) for 10 seconds, and then acts according to the PowerIndex (PI) regkey. PI should not be change during this period. The association timeout is 10 seconds. Using the Linksys access point, association occurs every 60 seconds, resulting in deauthentication and disconnection from the Linksys access point.
