What is Rugged?
The rugged J3500 was designed and tested with field professionals in service, sales, government and healthcare in mind who need a robust device without the extra weight associated with traditional fully rugged devices. The J3500 has been drop tested in accordance with MIL-STD-810G specifications for accidental drops that may happen while in the field.
The J3500 is also water, dust and splash resistant where field conditions are regularly dusty, windy and rain showers. The J3500 is IP52 rated, meaning it is suitable for use in dusty environments and is splash resistant to water, so it could, for example, withstand a rain shower.

Rugged features include:

- Lightweight, magnesium internal frame provides structural rigidity to protect from occasional bumps and drops often associated with mobile workers
- Shock-mounted display and hard disk drive (HDD), an accelerometer that protects data during drops or other events that could damage the hard drive
- A Motion exclusive thermal management system that protects from data loss
- Optional 64GB or 128GB SSD for extreme shock and vibration protection
- One-year warranty (optional three-year)
