More Than 600 Motion Computing Tablet PCs Being Deployed in 20 Healthcare Clinics Across U.S.

SOS and ATS Choose Motion's M1200 to Improve Cancer Patient Care

AUSTIN, Texas - April 8, 2003 - Motion Computing today announced that Supportive Oncology Services Inc. (SOS), and its technology partner, Advanced Technical Support (ATS), a provider of product development and custom software for mobile devices, are rolling out more than 600 Motion Tablet PCs in 20 oncology clinics across the country as part of a unique cancer research study.

SOS - a company working in conjunction with The West Clinic of Memphis, Tenn. to focus on quality of life issues in cancer treatment - developed the e/InfoCare System to provide trustworthy information at the point-of-care for both patients and doctors. Cancer patients use the Motion M1200 Tablet PC at check-in to enter information about their condition on a comprehensive questionnaire much like using a pen on paper. The system analyzes the information collected and flags unusual symptoms. Doctors then retrieve this information before seeing a patient, saving time and increasing awareness of individual needs and concerns.

The system also provides benefits that range from determining patient eligibility for clinical trials to delivering customized multimedia educational material about disease, nutrition and other factors important to cancer patients.

"We chose the M1200 Tablet PC for several reasons, including its wireless capabilities and lightweight, clipboard shape with a large 12.1-inch display that is easy to use by patients,” said David Engelhardt, president of ATS. "In addition, we were impressed with Motion's overall technical expertise and commitment to our project."

"Motion Computing designed the M1200 Tablet PC for just such scenarios as envisioned by ATS and SOS for oncology clinics,” said Kim Kasee, Motion Computing's vice president of marketing. "Real-time information is critical in healthcare. The Motion M1200 helps enable the flow of information between doctors and patients without technology interfering."

Among the first oncology clinics to use the SOS e/InfoCare System with Motion Computing's Tablet PC technology are The West Clinic and the Oncology Hematology Group of South Florida, Miami. For the past three years, SOS and ATS have been testing and refining the SOS e/InfoCare System at The West Clinic.

"We are fundamentally changing the way cancer patients are treated at the point-of-care, made possible by new technologies like broadband wireless and the Tablet PC," said Dr. Barry Fortner, chief operating officer of SOS and director of psychology and cancer symptom research at The West Clinic. "By collecting more complete information from cancer patients at the point-of-care, we are literally improving peopleês lives. Motion Computingês commitment to this endeavor has been invaluable to us."
