Motion Computing Tablet PCs One Up With OneNote

AUSTIN, Texas, Oct. 13, 2003 - Motion Computing today announced it is among the first to ship Microsoft® Office OneNote™ 2003 - the widely anticipated "killer app" for digital note-taking on tablet PCs. The company also is offering Microsoft Office Small Business Edition 2003, a cost-effective, pen-enabled version of Microsoft's productivity software suite.

OneNote is available preloaded on all Motion Pak configurations, an optional software bundle designed for the ultramobility needs of Motion M1300 Tablet PC users. Motion Pak also includes Microsoft Streets & Trips 2003, Microsoft Reader with three free books, Colligo Networks Personal Edition, Farstone Virtual Drive and CIC Sign-On, a signature authentication tool. Another Motion software bundle, the optional Office Pak, includes everything in Motion Pak plus Office Small Business Edition 2003.

OneNote is a new program in the Microsoft Office System that enables people to take, organize and use notes more productively on tablet PCs, laptops or desktops. It provides people with one place to store all their notes and the freedom to work with them how they prefer.

OneNote is ideal for tablet PCs because in addition to being able to type text notes and record audio, users can handwrite notes and draw diagrams or pictures with OneNote. Users can search for handwritten and text notes, and even convert handwritten notes to text. With OneNote, both typed and handwritten notes can easily be electronically filed and organized for future use.

In combination with the ultramobility of a Motion tablet PC, OneNote enables people to be more productive anywhere they work with ideas and notes - including at their desks, in meetings, presentations and brainstorming sessions. OneNote is the perfect "staging area" for organizing ideas and notes prior to creating more formal documents in Microsoft Word, Microsoft PowerPoint® or other Office programs.

Teams can e-mail notes after meetings, combine OneNote with a digital projector to create a real-time whiteboard for brainstorming sessions, or create a shared team notebook on a file share or Microsoft Windows® SharePoint™ Services site. Microsoft also has developed technologies that make OneNote easily deployed and managed across organizations and enterprises.

Motion also is shipping Office 2003 Small Business Edition, which features the latest pen-enabled advances for widely used programs such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook as well as new and improved features that connect people, information and business processes.

"Pen-enabled enhancements to Office Small Business Edition 2003 and the addition of OneNote are phenomenal steps forward for the tablet PC," said David Altounian, Motion's chief product officer. "Our customers see these applications as invaluable tools when combined with the ultramobility of our pen-enabled, pure tablet PC platform. Coming on the heels of shipping the first tablet PCs based on Intel Centrino™ mobile technology, today's announcement further validates an agile business model that gives our customers the first shot at adopting the latest hardware and software technologies," he added. "We are pleased that Motion Computing is taking a leadership role in helping us deliver information worker productivity tools to customers. Motion understands ultramobile computing and that the combination of Office Small Business Edition 2003 and OneNote on Motion tablet PCs will deliver great value for information workers who are on the go," said Joe Eschbach, Microsoft corporate vice president, Information Worker Product Management Group.

Motion Pak and Office Pak are priced at $34.99 and $315.99, respectively, and are available directly from Motion's Web site, http://motioncomputing.com, and more than 150 value-added resellers in North America.
