Motion Computing, Legend Computer Collaborate on Tablet PC for Chinese Market

AUSTIN, Texas, Dec. 11, 2002 - Motion Computing, an innovator in ultra-mobile computing and wireless communications, today announced a licensing agreement that allows Beijing-based Legend Group Ltd. to offer the Chinese market a Tablet PC based on Motion's design.

The agreement grants Legend -- which debuted its Soleil Tangy T100 Tablet PC on Dec. 9 -- exclusive in-country rights to a design based on Motion's ultra-mobile M1200 Tablet PC. Legend is the largest PC company in the People's Republic of China with about 30 percent of the market and more than $2 billion in revenues.

"We are excited to collaborate with a company as well positioned as Legend in a market with such significant growth opportunities," said Motion CEO Scott Eckert. "We're confident that a truly mobile, no-compromised PC with a pen-based interface will be a popular means of communicating and accessing information."

Sporting a 12.1-inch XGA display that is 35 percent larger than a conventional 10.4-inch screen, the design features a slim, clipboard-sized "pure" tablet design optimized for true mobility. It uniquely integrates the industry's best hardware and wireless features with Microsoft's powerful new operating system, Windows XP Tablet PC Edition. The new system is powered by Intel's most advanced mobile technology, the ultra-low voltage 866MHz Mobile Intel Pentium III Processor - M, and weighs less than three pounds in a base configuration.

Motion also has licensed its design to Gateway, which announced the co-branded Gateway Tablet PC on Monday.

About Motion Computing Founded largely by former Dell executives, Motion Computing's mission is to develop, manufacture, market and support a family of innovative ultra-mobile computing and communications products. Its flagship product, the Motion M1200 Tablet PC, is designed for users in a variety of vertical markets who need a combination of true mobility, power and versatility.
