Position: Senior Electrical Engineer
Reporting to: Director, Platform Systems
Essential Job Functions:
- Responsible for driving the electrical design of Tablet PC platforms and peripherals
- Drive Architecture, implementation, debug, and production release of the assigned platform projects
- Manage electrical development through an Asian based ODM Design team
- Work with third-party Suppliers on specification, design, testing, and trouble-shooting of electrical sub-assembles, and peripheral devices
- Work with hardware suppliers on specific architectural issues related to the Tablet PC platform unique requirements
- Assist in developing detailed schedules
Qualifications and Experience
Experience and Education Requirements:
- Must have a proven track record in development and testing PC hardware and peripheral devices (portable experience a plus)
- Should have a minimum of a BS in Electrical Engineering with at least 8 years of experience or a Masters Degree with at least 5 years of experience
- Experience working with remote development teams strongly desired
- Experience in Portable Computer design highly desireable
- Must have experience working with marketing, operations and other engineering teams
- Must have experience working with Asian based ODMs
- Able to debug and isolate system and component level problems and determine root cause
- Must be capable of documenting test results clearly, concisely and quickly
- Understanding of a design & development team environment required
- Must have experience and a thorough understanding of Intel X86 based design
- Strong technical knowledge of mobile PC interfaces (USB, Card Bus, PCI-Express, wireless (WWAN, WLAN), Ethernet, analog and digital video, LCD displays, and battery subsystems) required
- Able to debug and isolate system and component level problems and determine root cause
- Experience in PCB layout and routing is required
- Experience in electrical analysis of high speed digital interfaces and peripheral interfaces required
- Experience and knowledge of EMC and product safety regulations and design approaches required
- Experience with mobile wireless interfaces and devices is highly desired
- A thorough understanding of team oriented design development
- Capable of working in fast paced, multi-disciplined, ambiguous work environment
- Must have strong written and verbal communication skills
- Willingness to participate in evening conference calls
