As CEO, Catherine Thompson is responsible for guiding Motion’s direction and day to day activities. Working closely with Motion’s Chairman, executive team and Board of Directors, she helps set Motion’s strategic direction and oversees company activities focused on growth, innovation and industry leadership. Prior to her position as CEO, Catherine was Motion's Chief Operating Officer (COO).
Prior to joining Motion, Ms. Thompson served as Vice President of Finance for Dell’s Global Marketing organization, where she was responsible for the controller functions for those Chief Marketing offices. After beginning her career with Dell in 1993 as Vice President, Internal Audit, she also held roles as Vice President and Corporate Controller, Vice President of Business Operations in the Americas, Vice President of Customer Support within the Relationship Group, Vice President of Global Customer Programs and Vice President of Finance supporting the sales segments in the Americas and Commercial Business Group.
Before joining Dell, Ms. Thompson was a partner at the accounting firm of Arthur Andersen & Company where she was director of the Dallas/Ft. Worth telecommunications and utilities audit and financial consulting practices.
Ms. Thompson is a Certified Public Accountant and received a bachelor's degree in accounting from the University of Texas in 1974, where she currently is a member of the Advisory Board for the Evening MBA program. She is also on the Boards of Ballet Austin and the Capital Area Food Bank.
